Navajo Storm Pattern Rug
This lot offers a fine Navajo rug woven in the "Storm Pattern" styling. Being one of the more popular patterns and originating from the late 1800's, there are many myths created around the storm pattern that sprout from the first cataloger of the pattern - J.B. Moore. It is said the center of the rug symbolizes the home of the weaver, or center of the universe, surrounded by linear angles, leading to the four corners of the rug, the geometric lines are said to represent the all important rainstorms, while the four corners represent the four sacred mountains. It is not possible at this time to validate the myths. This particular rug was woven by Angela Taylor out of Pinon Arizona and measures 18 1/2" x 43 1/2". The rug is in good condition, not harboring any noticeable flaws.
