Contained in this lot for bidding is a Navajo Native American sterling silver thunder bird cuff originating from the Fred Harvey era. Fred Harvey jewelry was made for the Anglo tourist along the Santa Fe railroad lines, in hotels and retail shops run primarily by the Fred Harvey Company. Harvey hired Navajo silversmith to create decorative symbolized jewelry for the tourist trade. Fred Harvey era jewelry is widely collected and sought after. The hand tooling on this cuff features a Thunder bird with a Dry Creek Turquoise oval cabochon measuring .5" at its heart. Dry Creek is indeed considered a very rare Turquoise, because the mine is currently closed. The band also features traditional Navajo stamping of Sunbursts Corn and Arrows. The cuff also shows scalloped edges around the hand tooled stamping. The cuff measures 1" at the widest with an interior circumference of 6 1/4".
