This is a Navajo Native American Indian sterling silver, turquoise and gold filled concho belt made by Anthony Vandever. The belt features 11 conchos and spacers made from solid sterling silver. Each piece shows intricately tooled leaf and scroll work set with a Sleeping Beauty Turquoise cabochon as well as an inlaid design composed of turquoise, coral, onyx and mother of pearl. The back of the buckle is marked "Sterling 1/20 12K GF" and is signed by the artist "A. Vanderver". Anthony Vandever was a Navajo silversmith who created jewelry exclusively for the Atkinson Trading Co. in New Mexico in the early 1970's. The stamp used to sign the artist's work was inadvertently misspelled and went unnoticed for a number of years. This is one of Vandever's earlier pieces. The Navajo concho belt is in good condition. It measures 41.25" long and weighs 275 grams.
