Stunning Navajo Sterling Hand Stamped Graduated Hollow Bead Necklace hallmarked RV for Roy Vandever (1936-2009), Pillow Bench Beads strung on handmade silver chain, measures 22.75'' end to end and largest bead measures 1''D, the first 18 beads on each side are not hand stamped, 27 of the beads are beautifully stamped and graduated in size, the small flat bead near the clasp is hallmarked RV, Artist Bio: This Navajo silversmith is listed briefly in Barton Wright's book Hallmarks of the Southwest. Reportedly Vandever was from the Prewitt, New Mexico region and his initials (RV) are printed with the two letters wedged together in Gothic print. He also used an engraver to cut his signature as in this piece. The artist died at the age of 72 in January 2009.
