This is an original hand knotted and dyed Navajo Native American Saddle Blanket. The piece shows an Eye Dazzler style pattern in red, brown, black, white, and tan. Overall good condition and great natural dyed color on the rug from circa 1880-1916. This comes from the Chief Little Dog Estate Collection. The piece was believed to be owned and used by Chief Little Dog, Last Pikunni War Chief, of all the Blackfeet. His grandson Harve' Little Dog was the keeper of the family possessions and passed away in 2010. This came directly from the family and was owned by Chief Little Dog. His warlike activities spanned an area from the Blackfoot territories to the Colorado River and he was the leader of the Black-Patched-Moccasin Band. He died in 1916. The blanket is from the turn of the century. Very RARE. The Saddle Blanket measures 37"x50". Picture shown of Chief Little Dog not included.
