A world-renowned Navajo artist, a maker of saddles and buckles, a rodeo rider and storyteller, the White Mountains have been proud to claim Yellowhair as their own.Yellowhair began painting seriously in 1955. He won the All Indian National Finals Rodeo seven times. A finished craftsman and the founder of Yellowhair Belt Buckles, his son and some of his grandchildren carry on that business today and just about any rodeo person recognizes a Yellowhair buckle. Yellowhair also made saddles, and his workmanship is still revered today. Yellowhair also served his country in the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division. Robert was an award winning artist and has work on display in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C., and his painting of John F. Kennedy can be found in the White House.''
