Navajo Klagetoh Wool Trading Post Rug c. 1920
This is a fine authentic original Navajo Native American Indian wool rug in a rare Klagetoh pattern dating to circa 1920’s. The Klagetoh pattern, like the Ganado pattern was fathered by Lorenzo Hubbell and is located just south of Ganado, AZ. This example, which dated to circa 1920’s shows a nice tight hand knotted finely spun churro wool in bright aniline natural dyes. This example shows a grey heathered background with two central diamond medallions with unique stepped knotted whimsical design in tan and black / brown. The outside border, which shows four layers, shows a similar whimsical design in tan, cream, red, brown and yellow. This is truly a nice example showing well preserved condition with some fraying at the edges, but overall a rare authentic example. Measures overall 87" by 43".
