Navajo Klagetoh Wool Trading Post Rug c. 1920-
This is a fine authentic original Navajo Native American Indian wool rug in a rare Klagetoh pattern dating to circa 1920’s- with an outstanding tight weave, fine condition and nice size. The Klagetoh pattern, like the Ganado pattern was fathered by Lorenzo Hubbell and is located just south of Ganado, AZ. This example, which dated to circa 1920’s shows a nice tight hand knotted finely spun churro wool in bright aniline natural dyes. Possibly one of the finest Klagetoh rugs we have offered for sale. This example shows a grey heathered background with central diamond medallions having a unique stepped whimsical design in black, red and cream / white. The outside border, which shows four layers, shows a stepped storm design in black, cream / white, and red. This is truly a nice example showing well preserved condition and overall is a rare authentic example. One of our best Klagetoh examples in museum condition. Measures overall 55”x35”.
