This is a wonderful and large original Navajo Native American Indian wool trading post rug dating to the mid-1900’s. The Klagetoh style was established by Lorenzo Hubbell late in 1800, along with the contrasting Ganado Style. This rug shows a grey background and cream / white background with a light brown / tan with black Greek Key border having a black band border. The center of the rug shows a double diamond stepped pattern with rare Celtic Knot like woven border of brown and black being interwoven. The center also shows four three stepped corner accents and the center medallion shows four eight-point sections, two stepped diamonds and two twelve-point sections. The rug is in very good well preserved condition showing a very tight weave with 100% soft churro wool. The rug originated from a Trading Post in Klagetoh, Arizona from 1950’s. The rug measures overall 77" x 47".
