The lot features an original Navajo Native American Indian hand-woven wool rug dating to circa early 1900’s with a Klagetoh pattern. The rug most likely originates from the Klagetoh Arizona Trading Post owned and operated by Juan Lorenzo Hubbell. The Klagetoh style was established by Lorenzo Hubbell late in 1800, along with the contrasting Ganado Style. The Klagetoh style generally consists of gray or tan backgrounds highlighted by deep red and have black borders. Design elements usually consist of one or more-stepped center diamonds and/ or triangles surrounded by a geometric border. This blanket has brown and cream outer Greek Key borders with a band of red forming an inner border. Brown and cream bands cap each end. In the center are brown stepped triangles pointed inward--all on a variegated beige field. The rug is in very good condition with a nice tight weave, though the center has a small hole. Bleeding from the red band is barely discernable. The measurements of this rug are 56" x 28 1/2".
