Navajo Jemiz Kachina by Benally, measures 21''H, signed on bottom in pen is artist's name and name of kachina, mounted on wooden base, features the Hemis stairstep cloud headdress, feathers in the hands, leather and cowry shell belt, handpainted dance kilt, rabbit fur leg cuffs, beaded turquoise seed bead necklace, and leather and shell armbands, the Hemis Kachina is most often used for the Home-Going Ceremony when the kachinas leave the mesas for 6 months, it is one of the most appropriate kachinas for this farewell, as it is the first kachina to bring mature corn to the people, indicating that the corn crop is secured
