Featured in this lot is this Navajo JB Moore water bug storm pattern rug circa 1930 - 1940's. The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool construction that shows a natural hand spun design with aniline red dye and shows a stepped black border with an off white field. The design is a classic JB Moore design with geometric patterns with black and light brown coloration and shows water bugs throughout with lightening pictorials in a Tec Nos Pos style. John Bradford Moore was a renowned trader in New Mexico who established the Crystal Trading Post 1896. An early marketer of Navajo weavings, JB Moore became a major source for quality Navajo rugs, introduced a unique style to Navajo weaving, as well as an innovator for the mail-order business. The condition of this Navajo rug is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this rug are 31 1/2" x 64". The thread count of this rug is 154 threads per square inch.
