This is an excellent Navajo Native American Indian wool rug with an excellent Crystal Eye Dazzler pattern from Crownpoint Trading Post and woven by Lena Toledo. The rug dates to circa 1960’s and is from the Crownpoint Rug Weavers Association and was handmade in Ojo Encino, New Mexico. The rug has the original early trading post tag which reads, “No. 1616 85 Crownpoint Rug Weavers Assn. Crownpoint, New Mexico Weaver: Lena Toledo Address: Ojo Encino.” Crownpoint, New Mexico has been home to a gathering of extraordinary Navajo weavers since the early 1900’s including weavers from the Lorenzo Hubbell Trading Post, Teec Nos Pos Trading Post, Toadlena and Two Grey Hills Trading Post and J.B. Moore Old Crystal Trading Post. In circa 1950-1960’s the Crownpoint Rug Weavers Association founded the Crownpoint Rug Auction which is still in operation today. The rug shows a nice tight weave of 100% wool showing natural colors of black, cream/white, yellow, tan and grey. The rug has nice detail and shows very well-preserved museum quality condition with fine soft churro wool construction. Provenance: From a 90-year collection out of Central Arizona in the Coconino National Forest. Measures overall 58 inches long by 41.5 inches wide including the fringe.
