For your consideration, a Navajo Turquoise and heishe shell necklace circa 1900's. This 24" necklace has 49 gemstones of Dry Creek Turquoise, with heishe shell carved disks between the stones. Dry Creek turquoise is found in the same area as the Godber-Burnham turquoise. With it's very distinct color this turquoise is a light blue color with beautiful spider webbing. Dry Creek Turquoise comes from a small turquoise mine outside of Austin, Nevada in Lander County. Dry Creek Turquoise has gained much popularity over the years with its creamy pale blue coloring and golden to cocoa brown matrix. The color is a pastel blue much like the color of Larimar, only high grade Dry Creek Turquoise has beautiful light brown, golden yellow or orange webbed matrix. After the owner's passing several years ago, material from the Dry Creek turquoise mine became scarce due to family disputes. This braided necklace measures 24" tied.
