Navajo Corn Pottery Drum Pot by Faye
Native American Navajo Corn Pottery Drum Pot by Faye Tso (1934-2004), measures 4'' x 6'' and signed on the bottom, FYI: ''Navajo potter, Faye Tso was well known for her pottery. Tso dug her clay at Coal Mine Mesa, where she also gathered pinon from which she extracted the pitch resin used to coat and seal her Dineh pottery. Faye was an herbalist and healer, and one of the master Dineh (Navajo) potters. She was one of the first Dineh potters to use unconventional imagery on her pottery.Typically navajo pottery has little to no decorations on it but Faye often carved Yei's (deity figures), dancers, corn designs, and maidens on her pots. This pitch pot specifically has a single ear of corn carved into it with a decorative design wrapping around the top of the pot.''
