This is a Navajo Native American Indian wool trade rug from the town of Chinle at the mouth of Canyon de Chelly. The Chinle style was developed by Mary Cabot Wheelwright and Cozy McSparron, a trader at Chinle. The rug has wonderful uniquely seen grey, red, and white coloring with the geometric Chinle pattern without a border. Finely crafted wool trade rug from the second to third quarter of the 20th century. Measures 20.5"x41.5".
