Navajo 3rd Phase Lone Mountain Concho Belt
This is an original Navajo Native American Indian Third Phase Lone Mountain turquoise concho belt dating to circa 1930’s. In the early 1900s, the third phase of the concha belt began when artists learned how to set turquoise into their pieces. The piece shows a large oval buckle that is set with two polished gem quality turquoise stones from the Lone Mountain turquoise Mine. The belt also shows five butterfly conchos and seven oval conchos set with a single polished Lone Mountain turquoise stone. The belt is strung on a black tan leather. Each concho shows a period correct soldered copper loop on the back. Each concho has an outstanding hand tooled and etched intricate design with a fine scalloped edge. Overall the piece shows an outstanding large size. The buckle measures 3 3/8” by 2 3/4”, the butterfly conchas are each 1 3/4” by 3/4”, and each oval conchas are 2 3/4” by 2 1/4”. The belt overall measures 52 inches overall in length.
