Rare c. 1850's and absolutely stunning Natural Red Coral necklace. Necklace set is made from 6 rows intricately woven in a criss-crossed Corded pattern then forming 3 stands interlocking together. This is the finest Mediterranean Italian Coral beads with a strong depth of color. Each bead is hand cut with a slight variation to shape then polished. The intricate hand workmanship is outstanding and a prize for any serious collector of Antique jewelry. The clasps are marked 800 Silver with a gold wash or vermeil. The center of the clasps sits a 1/2 " cabochon of Coral. The necklace measures 16" long end to end, 1 inch wide and has a slight natural curve to the form. The Natural Red Mediterranean Coral can no longer be harvested making this piece even more valuable.
This piece is in excellent condition for it's age. I cannot find any breaks in the stinging, repairs or missing beads. I brought it to a jeweler friend of mine and had it confirmed that they are Natural Coral, not dyed and of Italian origin. Dating them at around the mid 1800's.
I'm sorry I can only ship to the Continental US. Verified PP, CC & US checking acct. address. Outside USA please read my shipping policy before bidding.
