For your consideration is this exquisite vintage Zuni sterling silver and turquoise, coral, paua shell and MOP inlay Zuni maiden with pottery brooch/pendant by the highly collectible and award winning Zuni artist Madeline Beyuka. The pin/pendant remains in wonderful vintage condition. The museum quality example of vintage Native American art features an intricate mosaic inlay design in sterling silver accented with colorful turquoise, coral, jet, paua shell and mother of pearl. This impressive piece can be worn as a brooch or as a pendant. This is a larger piece, and measures about 2 1/2" long by about 1 1/2" wide and is made out of sick silver. The piece weighs 20gr. The piece is stamped 'MB"
Madeline Beyuka, who was born in 1935, has been making jewelry since 1954, learned the craft from her brother-in-law. Starting in 1956, she worked with her husband Edward Beyuka for a number of years. Madeline did the inlay and Eddie did the silverwork on their collaborative pieces. After they divorced, she continued to use the same designs, but she began doing all of the stonework and silverwork herself. Madeline has nine children, some of whom are jewelers.
