Native American Parfleche Quiver, Arrows & Bow
For your consideration is this late 20th century Native American parfleche quiver, wood bow and six arrows attributed to the Plains tribes. There are six arrows in total, three with stone points and three with metal points. Three three metal tipped arrows feature a dark wood shaft with rawhide wraps holding two feathers to the end acting as the fletching. The three stone point arrows are larger and thicker, showing three feathers acting as the fletching on each. One is painted with black and red stripes towards the fletching, one shows black and red painting under the fletching and one shows no marks or paint. The parfleche quiver is adorned with raw hide strips, a large feather and horse hair strands capped with brass or copper and three elk or deer tine slabs. The wood bow shows no marks or paint and is strung with twine. The pieces show good condition overall with wear present on the parfleche quiver and arrows, and slight wear on the bow. The arrows measure from 24 5/8" L to 32 7/16" L, the quiver measures 19 1/2" L x 3 1/2" W and the bow measures 35 3/4" L x 1 1/8" W. They have a collective weight of 1 pound and 4 ounces.
