This is a replica of a saddle ridden by an Indian man in the Western part of the country. The fork was made from a Montana Elk horn. The seat is Buffalo hide and has lacing underneath for support. The squawsaddle had the same back as the front and were decorated with beads laced into rawhide strips. The style of saddle represented here dates in the mid 1800’s. This piece was created in Belgrade, Montana by master saddlemaker Dale Moore. The saddle has a 15" seat and is in mint condition. This is from the Dale E. Moore Collection inBelgrade, Montana. Dale started and runs the Montana Horseman Saddle Building School. This piece is from his over 50 year collection of rare saddles. He started building saddles in Helena Montana in 1964 under the guidanceand direction of Jack Miller. Jack was a master saddle maker who, during his career, worked for the most famous saddle shops in the west. These included: Visalia Saddlery California, Garcia Saddlery Elko Nevada and
