Typically produced for trade with the American Indians, dag knives were very popular with their target audience, with their steel blades and simple but rugged construction having many advantages over stone, bone and other materials. Overall length is 12 7/8 inches with the double edged leaf shaped blade measuring 6 3/4 inches long and 2 1/4 inches wide at the base. Full tang construction, with a "vase" shape to the grip section, a rounded back end to the blade section and a round pommel. Smooth two-piece wood grips shaped to match the tang, with brass pins securing the grips in place, and bronze tack decoration running along the edges.
