Native American Ceremonial Hand Painted Cow Skull
This genuine cow skull was hand painted by a Native American, just like those used on reservations for ceremonial occasions. The skull prominently displays a large hand print in russet red right on the forehead. This was made from powder left over from a pipe. The hand represents the sun dancers touching the skull on their way out of the sun dance circle. On one side is a yellow sun symbol. It represents the hot sun that the dancers dance in for four days and nights without food or water. On the other side is a group of blue dots and wavy lines, representing rain and water, which give the dancers a blessing from the heat The horns are black, with rope tied to each. * The skull is in very good condition, and has all the natural wear and cracking one would expect. The dimensions are 23" x 23" x 8". There is some rope on back for hanging on a wall. * This is a terrific find for any collector of Native American items, or anyone who wants that Native / Western look in their home.
