<B>[Native American] Archive of Eight Colonial Documents (1741-1772)</B></I> includes revelations on the life of Colonial America by the merchandise bought and sold in its stores with Indians. As follows:<BR><B>Manuscript Document</B></I>, four pages, 7.25" x 12", front and verso. Noted in ballpoint ink in blank area at bottom of first page to be "<I>From Jelles Fonda/ Store Account Book/ beginning 1756/ R.F. Yates</B></I>." Pages are numbered 62-65. Possibly in the hand of Jelles Fonda since an entry on this page is: "<I>There is a Ball.ce in my favour.</B></I>" Jelles Fonda became a prominent Mohawk Valley trader. He served in the New York State Senate representing the Western District and died in office.<BR><B>Manuscript Document</B></I>, one page, 15" x 12.25". Headed: "<I>Mr John Pelty to Edward Shippen</B></I>." Entries on the left side are dated from Nov. 1741 - Oct. 1743. Entries on the right side, dated February, 1740/1, with eighteen lines of notations relating to payments of his account. Edward Shippen was Mayor of Philadelphia from 1744-1745. Partially separated at mid- vertical fold with smaller separation at right on mid-horizontal fold.<BR><B>Manuscript Document</B></I>, three pages, 7.5" x 12.25", front and verso. [Philadelphia, Pennsylvania]. Headed: "<I>List of Goods remaining in Store this 31st January 1753</B></I>," with cost of each item listed with year of purchase (1748-1752) and name of seller, signed: "<I>Will Atlee</B></I>." Expertly repaired at conjoined edge. Light staining.<BR><B>Manuscript Document</B></I>, one page, 15.5" x 12.25". [Philadelphia, Pennsylvania]. Docketed on verso: "<I>List of Goods delivered to Mr. Thomas Lawrence Junr the 9th of May 1753</B></I>." Repaired on verso with a .75" x 8.25" strip of plastic tape which shows through. Holes in the area of the repair do not affect text. Note at the lower left by Will Atlee is initialed by him: "<I>W.A.</B></I>" Mid- vertical and mid-horizontal folds chipped at edges.<BR><B>Manuscript Document</B></I>, three pages, 8.25" x 13", front and verso. Headed: "<I>List of Goods delivered to Mr. Thomas Lawrence Junior at Philadelphia this 9th day of May 1753.</B></I>" Slightly tattered at edges with minor stains. Good condition.<BR><B>Manuscript Document Signed: "</B></I><B><I>Edward Head</B></I></B></I><B>"</B></I>, one page, 8.25" x 4.5". Bristol County, [Mass.] May 3, 1748. In part: "<I>To Samuel White Esqr one of his Majesty's Justices of the peace for the County of Bristol. Edward Head of Swansey in the County of Bristol... Complains on his Majesty's behalf against Robert Chase...</B></I>" Good condition.<BR><B>Manuscript Document Signed: "</B></I><B><I>Josias Espy</B></I></B></I><B>"</B></I>, one page, 7.25" x 6". Philadelphia, May 25, 1752. In part: "<I>Received... of Edward Shippen Esqr three Boxes (in one of which is two Silver Cans) ar Small Black Case with a Dozen of knives & Forks & Six Silver Spoons... I promise to deliver to Mr. James Burd at Shippensburg.</B></I>" Mounting stains along left and right edges, else in fine condition. James Burd was married to Sarah Shippen, daughter of Edward Shippen. Burd was a merchant in Philadelphia for several years before leaving in 1752, the year of this document, with his young family to manage his father-in-law's vast land holdings in Shippensburg.<BR><B>Manuscript document signed by Thomas Kiton</B></I> with "his mark": "<I>TK</B></I>", one page, 7.75" x by 12.5". Lancaster, Penn., Oct. 11, 1749. In part: "<I>Know all Men by these Presents, That I Thomas Kiton of the County of Lancaster in the Province of Pennsylvania Trader am held & firmly bound unto Edward Shippen & Thomas Lawrence junior in the Sum of Two hundred & Eighty five Pounds Ten shillings and Six pence...</B></I>" Small embossed paper seal affixed at lower right. Witnessed by: "<I>Wm. Shippen</B></I>" and "<I>Joseph Shippen junr.</B></I>" Kiton has signed with "his mark," being his initials.
