<B>Nathaniel Hawthorne, </B></I><B><I>The Scarlet Letter, A Romance</B></I></B></I> (Boston: Ticknor, Reed, and Fields, 1852), 307 pages, brown-cloth binding with gold lettering and embossed decorations, 12mo (7.25” x 5”). Born on the Fourth of July in Salem, Massachusetts, Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804-1864) is most famous for his Romantic novels <I>The Scarlet Letter</B></I> (1850) and <I>The House of the Seven Gables </B></I>(1851), both of which have been filmed several times.
