Eighth President of the United States in Congress (1738–1796) under the Articles of Confederation, a post he held in 1786. ALS signed “Nath. Gorham,” one page, 7.25 x 12, July 4, 1791. Gorham writes from Boston to Sam. R. Gerry. In full: “Your favour of the first I recd. and have inclosed your 12 of the Certificates for old stock agreably [sic] to your desire—& which are accordingly charged to your account— You can probably procure your Branding Iron at Salem….” Accompanied by two 1792 documents from Gorham to Gerry, bearing evidently secretarial signatures, a vintage postcard-style image, and a folder from dealer Walter R. Benjamin. Horizontal folds with a few edge separations (not affecting text) and scattered light toning and soiling, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
