Businessman and philanthropist (1848–1931) who co-owned two of New York City's biggest department stores—R.H. Macy & Company and Abraham & Straus. Two items: TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Nathan Straus Pasteurized Milk Laboratories letterhead, February 7, 1928. In part, “I am very much interested in reading your letter and also to know that after many years of illness you are now in a position satisfactory to yourself. I am also very interested in colored people, and have no doubt that you are doing good work for them.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope; and a bold ink signature, “Nathan Straus, Feb 7/1928,” on an off-white 3 x 2.25 card, with a small collector’s notation at the top. In fine condition.
