Each wears a hood with a raised crest toward front center along which are painted seed forms. Both hold three plant stalks in the right hand and a pepino with its stem in the left. On a cord around the neck a bean-like pod is suspended, a double unit on one figure, a single on the other. This latter figure has the soles of its feet indicated in outline on the vessel bottom. The painting is done quite freely. The figure with soles of feet indicated has some chipping and repaired crack systems, as well as a paint loss on the proper right leg.

Provenance
Butterfields, San Francisco: sale 7376E, 18 November 2002, lot 1098/2, p.22
