<B>Feather-covered Band for Ceremonial Attire</B></I><BR>Nasca (?)<BR>A.D. 100 - 300<BR>Macaw feathers on textile<BR>Height 5 1/2 in. Diameter (as mounted) 8 1/8 in.<BR><BR>A large amount of featherwork comes from South Coast burials and is usually designated Nasca. Blue feathers from the blue-and-yellow macaw have been sewn to a long, rather loosely-woven brown textile band. Such bands formed parts of high-status dress.
