Crowning himself Emperor of France in 1804, the ambitious general launched a dramatic campaign that soon put large swaths of continental Europe under his scepter. It was only when he launched his ill-fated invasion of Russia in 1812 that his dreams of hegemony were dashed. Defeat at Waterloo on 18 June 1815 against an alliance led by Britain and Prussia confirmed the end of Napoleon's grand ambitions. Nevertheless, his many reforms in law and administration helped modernize much of Europe.

Provenance:
Purchased from Forsyth's, Nashville, TN

Shipping: Requires 3rd Party Shipping (view shipping information)
