The Egg illustrates the centenary of Russia's victory over the armies of Napoleon and in particular the victory at Borodino in 1812. It is one of the two imperial Easter eggs for which the design drawings have been fully recovered. Napoleonic egg was made in 1912 to celebrate 100's anniversary of victory in war against Napoleon. Maria Fyodorovna received this egg as a gift from Tzar Nicholas II for being a honorary colonel for six regiments and was very popular within the troops. She was regarded as the Tsarina of Russia. The Napoleonic egg is made of yellow gold, translucent emerald green, and strawberry red enamel with rose-cut crystals.
