In part (translated): “I received both your statements about 2,000 men and 3,800 men on foot who have arrived from the Army of Portugal and the Army of Spain. It seems to me that the 2nd includes the 1st. You don't give me sufficient explanation. You don't send me a report on those who assembled a Salamanca for departure, and those who are to arrive. Give orders to Gen. Monthiou to hold back all the foot soldiers from the Cavalry and the Baggage Trains that will arrive from Spain or Portugal. Ask him to send you a report on the small depots in Pau, Auch and others so that I can see which ones I have at my disposal. You yourself are to send me a statement…about those who are to leave, either from the Army of Portugal, the Army of the South, of the Center, of Aragon, of the North.” A couple of central vertical folds, a few other creases, missing top right corner, and a bit of scattered light toning and soiling, otherwise fine condition.
