<B>Napoleon Bonaparte Letter Signed</B></I> "<I>Napoleon</B></I>". One page, 7.25" x 5.5", Saint-Cloud, France, May 12, 1811, to "<I>Mon Cousin</B></I>". Writing from his headquarters on the outskirts of Paris, Napoleon here discusses orders to his commander in Portugal as regards troop and baggage movements. Matted and framed with an engraving of Napoleon to an overall size of 20" x 13.25". This letter was written during a crucial phase of the Peninsular War as the French stranglehold on Iberia was being loosened by the allied forces of Britain, Spain and Portugal. Napoleon was also readying his armies for their disastrous invasion of Russia in 1812. Smoothed folds and light toning as expected, else very fine condition.
