<B>Napoleon Bonaparte Document Signed,</B></I> "<I>NP</B></I>". One page, 8.25" x 12.25, September 17, 1814. Napoleon's celebrated exile to Elba was being affected when his longtime lieutenant, Grand Marshal Henri-Gratien Bertrand (1773-1844), forwarded - and signed - this overview of upcoming furniture expenses for the Emperor's approval. This manuscript document partially reads, "...The gilding is unnecessary...the consoles for the Empress' room will cost 120 francs...I have the honor to propose, Majesty, to purchase two..." Napoleon approved the prospectus by initialing the document in the upper left corner. Clean with a crisp appearance. Three minor crease lines, Very fine condition. Double matted in ornate gilt frame with Napoleon's most famous portrait and a brass descriptive plate. 30.0" x 22.5" overall.
