Her early career was influenced greatly by her travels throughout Asia, and Europe. Her first worldwide recognition came in the 1970's during her experiments with hand made paper. Her three-dimensional abstract paper technique became known as the "Genn method", and she helped revitalize an interest in paper itself as part of the art form. She continued to work in abstract, gaining positive reception, and winning awards. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibits spanning five decades. Her work today can be found at many prestigous museums, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Los Angles County Museum, and the Auckland Museum, New Zealand. Her art is also in the collections of many respected corporations, including AT & T, Hewlett Packard, Nordstroms, and Lehman Bros.
