Named to General Shengbao. 37 1/2" long General Shengbao was a Manchu bannerman officer during the Qing dynasty. He is mentioned in relation to the Taiping Rebellion and in defense operations fronting the Taiping northern advances. Specifically, during the Taiping Northern Invasion (1853-1855), when Taiping forces advanced into northern China (Zhili province, etc.), the Qing imperial court called upon banner armies led by several generals, among them Shengbao. Shengbao was involved in defending the Capital Region (Zhili / environs of Beijing) against the Taiping advance. The court under Xianfeng Emperor and others reorganized defenses, calling on generals like Shengbao and Senggelinqin (a Mongol general) to mount resistance and protect key strategic areas.
