Named Australian Made WWII A-2 Leather Flight Jacket, with leather pouch marked ''Lt. C.A. Nellis'', with silver stenciled officer's wings, right breast with large painted Red Raiders insignia, left breast with missing squadron patch, left shoulder with missing circular patch (probably theatre-made 5th Air Force), and CBI patch to right shoulder; both Lieut. bars to epaulets have been removed. Jacket is approx. size 34. Cloth tag is clearly visible and is marked ''V505/1943-Made in Australia'' and lined with the original khaki twill material. Jacket is extremely well made and differs from its American counterparts in that the pockets and flap are double stitched. The back of the jacket shows preliminary tracing for future artwork in that the faint outlines of mission bombs are present. Condition is very good. Red Raiders insignia is soiled and discolored. Zipper, cuffs and waistband have been professionally replaced. With some minor research and restoration, thi!
s jacket could be returned to its full original glory. Est.: $800-$1,200.
