Featured in this lot is this Nain Gombadi Habiban Iranian rug circa 2000. The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool and silk on cotton construction. The rug is hand made and signed by the iconic maker Habibian and his signature is woven into the pile woven weave. The rug shows an off white field that shows geometric patterns of blue red and gold with a central medallion of similar coloration with fringe on both sides of the rug. Habibian is the most famous name in Nain workshop rugs today. Fatollah Habibian is considered by many to be the father of Nain carpet. He was the son of a owner of an aba workshop in Nain who wove his first rug in 1903. An Aba is a woolen outer garment that was usually stripped. The condition of this Nain Gombadi rug is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows a good overall condition. The measurements of this rug is 81" x 51". The rug features paperwork and provenance that traces the rug back to Saudi Arabia from the Oriental Carpets Bazar and features the original receipt.
