Nagel and Menz Under lever German drilling, 16 gauge and approximately 11 mm calibers, Serial #NSNV. The drilling is in overall good condition with 27” barrels. The barrels retain approximately 60% of its thinning blued finishwith the receiver going to a grey patina. The barrels are Krupp Steel and Nitro proof marked with a full length filed rib, folding rear and silver front sight. The receiver, side plates, hammers and tang are nicely scroll engraved andmarked Nagel and Menz. Interestingly the side plates are engraved, “HOFBUCHSENMACHER” which loosely translates into “Gunsmith to the crown”. The checkered wood stocks are Bavarian in style with numerous mars and compressions. An oldrepair has been made to the cheek piece and a bullet trap added to the butt. The rifle features an integral barrel mounted sling swivel and a finely checkered wood and metal butt. The bores are good, action crisp and markings sharp on thisfine old drilling. (Antique).
