The 1898 book came with a note, " . . .Published by Scientific Publishing Co., New York, . . .Original Crimson cloth, stamped in gold. Thick heavy royal octavo. . .well -printed on slick paper. . .Illustrated with photo plates of old mining equipment in the Western U.S. Many detailed drawings. Bound in rear of column is 'the Buyer's Manual' advertisements of mining equipment, some illustrated, hoists, drills, etc. This series was issued yearly to keep the mining trade informed. Covers all minerals and mines in long articles, aluminum, copper in Arizona, gold and silver, mines, U.S. and abroad, many now-forgotten mines. Methods of extraction then being used. Solid information, much of which is still valuable" (V.H. Rhea). Condition of all books are good, front covers are still intact although very delicate because seams are beginning to tear along the edge.
