January 1, 1907 Letterhead and sample $10.00 Traveler`s Money Order specimen, cancelled for corporate review. There is a beautiful native Indian vignette on the bill, which quite possibly may have been used in future illustrations. The contents of the letter explain the differences between the old version and this new one, such as watermarks, signatures, etc. It goes on to explain typical handling procedures and security checks for acceptance of the money order. Authored by W.E Scott, Superintendent, the sample measures 7.5x3.25. It is in near uncirculated condition, with 2 minute marks/ penetrations at the left end. The letter shows typical age wear at the corners, and some chips and tears along the right edge. Wells Fargo pushed customers` business from New York and New Jersey through Chicago, into the Midwest, to Texas and Arizona, and into the logging and mining areas of the far west. They offered basic financial services like money orders, travelers` checks and funds by telegraph. Always, wherever there was mining, from Alaska to Arizona, Wells Fargo guarded the gold. By 1910, the Company`s network linked 6,000 locations. HKA#63840
