Single silvered spur with original leather cuff. Marked "M. B. Saunton/ Winnemucca.Nev." on the inside with no other markings. Staunton was in business in Winnemucca from about 1869- his death about 1905, according to our friend Griff Durham, a saddlemaker historian. He started as a bootmaker, quickly enlarging the business to include harnesses and saddles. Juan Estrada went to work for Staunton about 1903. After Staunton died, Gus Goldberg bought into the business, which became known as Goldberg-Staunton. This single spur is thought to be from his early period. Later pieces have different markings.
