In the Middle Mines area of the Comstock Lode, the 800 foot Savage Mine was staked by A. O. and L. C. Savage and others, located between the Hale & Norcross and the Gould and Curry Mines in 1859. Due to the results of a lawsuit, the North Potosi and Birdsall Companies' claims were also annexed by the Savage. During the initial mining, little ore was located from 1865-1873. In 1875 the Chollar-Potosi, Hale & Norcross, and Savage Companies combined to explore greater depths. In 1895 the Savage became part of the Brunswick Exploration Company [Ref: knowledgecenter.unr.edu].
