Lot of 7. With the discovery of silver and gold bearing veins in 1900, the town of Tonopah became one of the biggest mining booms in the history of the Silver State. Specimens in this lot range from 1 1/2 to 3 inches in diameter - many cut and polished nicely exhibiting mineralogy and vein textures. Ore mineralogy includes the silver minerals argentite, polybasite, proustite, pyrargyrite, tetrahedrite, and tennantite along with chalcopyrite, pyrite, and galena in a matrix of quartz, calcite, and siderite. This lot also includes the supergene silver minerals cerargyrite and iodyrite (also known as iodargyrite) and a really nice example of crystalline proustite.
