Incorporated in New York. No. 571 issued in 1866 to Frank W. Tappan for 500 shares. One vertical red R44 R4 hand tied perf stamp at left. Signed by Y. Borrell, Secr., and Hogeboom, Pres. Humboldt County was one of Nevada's 9 original counties formed during the Utah Territorial Legislature (1856). It is Nevada's oldest county and served as a central mining district with the county seat of Unionville. However, after Unionville's decline in mining, the county seat was moved to Winnemucca on the transcontinental railroad line. Black ink on crème. Slight foxing and folds with one split end.
