Smith, Campbell, Metson & Brown’s Office, Tonopah, Nevada sent by Bullfrog Bank and Trust Co., Beatty, Nye County., Nev. Has one US postage stamp: red 2-cent with profile of Washington, and one grilled two-cent red stamp; both are cancelled. The Diamond Queen was founded in 1905. According to the Beatty Bullfrog Miner of that year, “The Diamond Queen group consisting of five claims owned and being operated by Messrs. T. R. Kennick, Jas. A. Gillies and E. J. Waugh are situated on Eastern slope of the Bare Range of mountains of about 6 miles southeasterly of Beatty in a direct line, though it takes about nine miles to reach the property by trail.” By 1908 the lease on one-third of the mine was held by L. Guisti. He died, and his father, John Guisti, became executor. The contents of these letters concern the extension of the lease and the efforts by the lawyers to get John Guisti to sign the necessary documents.
