Incorporated February 23, 1864. Cert# 23. Issued to Silas Fuller on June 22, 1864 for 20 shares. Signed by secretary James Gump (sp) and president Charles D. Conny (sp). Little wear, folds. A red 25 cent revenue stamp appears on the upper left corner. Measures 10 x 5.25." White settlers began to arrive in Lander County in 1862-63. Many settled around the Reese River in hopes of striking it rich. Though several mining camps emerged in those early years, only two survived to the mid 1860s. A few more mining camps were established in the 1870s and 80s, but they too failed. Mining success from Austin drew many away from the area [Paher, Nevada Ghost Towns & Mining Camps, 1970, p. 159]. - Gil Schmidtmann Collection
