Incorporated October 20, 1863. Cert# 14. Issued to A. K. Steains on December 31, 1863 for 20 shares. Signed by secretary Jas S. Pond and president I. W. Felt. Wear, folds and creases. Watermarks appear on the right side. A red 25 cent revenue stamp appears on the left side. Measures 9 x 4. White settlers began to arrive in Lander County in 1862-63. Many settled around the Reese River in hopes of striking it rich. Though several mining camps emerged in those early years, only two survived to the mid 1860s. A few more mining camps were established in the 1870s and 80s, but they too failed. Mining success from Austin drew many away from the area [Paher, Nevada Ghost Towns & Mining Camps.
