Exceptional mining stock certificate. Certificate is in good condition with a border and decorative text. The entire certificate is dark gray with the text in both black and white. Certificate No. 1083 for 20 shares. A vignette is present in the top center of the certificate of miners working underground and an ore near a tunnel. Two stamps are present, one for 25-cents that is 2" and stamped "G. W. Hopkins", the secretary of the company, and another 25-cent nearly square stamp. The company was incorporated on Jan. 1, 1868 and located in the Flowery District. Offices were located in Virginia City. This mine was very close to the mines of the Comstock Lode and was involved in a court case in the early 1870s. The company filed for bankruptcy on August 17, 1870.
