NV - Feb. 10, 1863 - White and Murphy Letter *Territorial* :
A full size letter datelined, "San Francisco February 10th 1863. Office White & Murphy by Gold and Silver Mining Co." This letter is in correspondence to "R.F. Morrow, esq. Supt: White and Murphy" regarding stock levies and payments to stockholders and a bank. Payment to Birdseye and Co. (a banking house) mentioned in this letter is of interesting note as just two years prior Birdseye applied to the US government for the position of Controller of the port of San Francisco. He was sued during his absence for dishonor of a note. The case went to the California Supreme Court which found him guilty. (REF. Hale, 1868). Birdseye and Co. closed in 1864. Felton (also mentioned in the letter) was noted to have managed the Birdseye bank in Birdseye's absence. Other names of mention include:
